Profile : Dr. Jayashree Acharya Professor & Head of Department of Sport Psychology at LNIPE, Gwalior with additional responsibility as Director, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan (RGKA).
Previous : Associate Professor of Physical Education, at LNCPE, Trivandrum under Sports Authority of India; Dean, Faculty of Physical Education, University of Kerala, Trivandrum 2005-2007.
She has the distinction of being one of the most experienced Sport Psychologists in India spanning a career of over 27 years with remarkable and noteworthy achievements as a Sports Psychologist, Academician, Researcher, Coach and a forthright Administrator in her two decades of association with Sports Authority of India. During her two decades of association with Sports Authority of India, she has provided effective support across 10 different sports and over 1,000 national and international athletes. Driven by passion for development of sports in India and the emotional quotient involved perspectives that go into developing the desired talent, her contribution to physical education is exceptionally commendable.
Her academic and research interests are evidenced in the qualitative and highly appreciated papers presented in Pre-Olympic Science Congress at Greece (2004), Beijing (2008), Glasgow (2012) and in World congress of Sport Psychology at Skiathos, Greece (2001) and Sydney, Australia (2005) and many more at Asian Level. She is actively involved in various National and international bodies to promote academics in the field of sports for an in-depth understanding aimed at fostering an environment that encourages sports activities as a part of holistic growth. She has had many research publications to her credit including a chapter in Routledge Publisher. Visiting Scholar in Sport Psychology (Florida State University, USA,2002)
